No Warranty Claim Honda seems to be very proud of its VTEC engines because they claim that there isn’t a warranty claim against them. They attribute this to the very reliable variable valve/timing and solenoids they use in the system. However, that does not mean that the VTEC technology is bulletproof.
In the new Honda Civic Type R the 2.0-litre turbocharged engine is reputed to produce 'at least' 300bhp and 295lb ft. This allows the Type R to accelerate from 0-62mph in around 5.8sec and reach a Honda Civic Visual History: The Compact Leader, Generation by Generation. Without VTEC, the 1.5-liter engine makes 70 hp in the base CX and 102 hp in the DX models. A way to get more air into the engine. The Si has a turbo no need for that second valve and extra lift because the turbo is doing the job. If anything, the turbo becomes the limiting factor at higher RPMs. Our engines have variable valves- just not screaming Vtec (yo) from the earlier generations. That isn't to say our engine is a slacker.
