A total of 111 people were identified to have developed pityriasis rosea or pityriasis rosea‐like eruptions after vaccination, out of which 36 (55.38%) were female. The average age of incidence was calculated to be 44.92 years, and 63 (62.37%) people presented after administration of the first dose.
Pityriasis rosea has been implicated with reactivation of human herpesviruses 6 and 7 triggered by other infections, psychological stress, pregnancy and drugs. 5 Pityriasis rosea has rarely been described after vaccines. The exact pathogenetic mechanism that leads to pityriasis rosea after vaccination is unknown. 6 Although post vaccination pityriasis rosea is a relatively well‐known entity, this case, we believe, is the first report of such an occurrence following a recombinant vaccine against Covid‐19, possibly due to the same reasons as proposed previously.
